Dr. George Martin is a native of Philadelphia.  He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania.    Dr. Martin received his medical degree from the Temple School of Medicine.   He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and his dermatology residency at UCLA.  He is American Board Certified in both dermatology and internal medicine.

Dr. Martin has practiced clinical dermatology in Maui since 1989.  He has been a clinical preceptor for numerous medical students and residents and has received several teaching awards.

As a practicing clinician, clinical investigator, and internationally recognized lecturer, Dr. Martin has a wide range of medical dermatology interests that include cutaneous oncology, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne/rosacea, and connective tissue disorder diseases.  Dr. Martin has published in several medical and scientific journals and books.  He is founder and program chairman of the internationally recognized dermatology meeting: “Maui Derm”: Advances in Cosmetic and Medical Dermatology. Additionally, Dr. Martin is the founder and program director of the Maui Derm: NP+PA meetings.  Dr. Martin is also co-founder of the key thought leaders meeting in rheumatology and gastroenterology: Rheumatology Winter Clinical Symposium and Gastroenterology Updates in IBD and Liver Disease.

Dr. Martin has a strong interest in evidence-based medicine.  He is also a member of the Cochrane Skin Group and the Actinic Keratoses Global Guidelines Group. He has also organized several Delphi-based Consensus Conferences in the areas of psoriasis, acne, and atopic dermatitis. He is a contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, The Dermatologist, Yearbook in Dermatology and the SkinMED Journal. Dr. Martin is a member of the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation and a board of directors’ member and president of DASIL (The Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery International League).
 
Dr. Martin is the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Maui County “Palaka Award” which recognizes outstanding long-term volunteer service to a nonprofit organization. He also received the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) “International Traveling Mentorship Program” teaching award for 2018 for his teaching efforts around the globe.
