When it comes to the skin there are few dermatologic emergencies.  However, when those emergency conditions occur proper identification and treatment is crucial.  This presentation will discuss signs and symptoms that could indicate to the provider when the patient may need a higher level of workup and/or intervention.  Presentation, identification, workup, treatment, an appropriate referral will be discussed.

At the end of this presentation the attendee will be able to:

• List at least three conditions considered dermatologic emergencies.
• Describe the clinical presentation of at least three emergency/urgent dermatologic conditions.
• Identify appropriate interventions or referral for at least three dermatologic emergencies

Presenter

Dr. Susan Voss is a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner. She has been with Riverside Dermatology in Hannibal, MO since 2009. Her practice consists of medical dermatology as well as cosmetic dermatology. She cares of patients of all ages with a variety of dermatologic conditions. She began her career as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1998. Dr. Voss is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is a past recipient of the AANP Clinical Excellence Award for Missouri.
